Septic System Cost Calculator: Installation & Replacement
Estimate septic system installation, repair, tank replacement and drain-field costs by project, home size, system, soil and access. Free result with no signup.
Quick 2026 cost answer
How much does a septic system cost?
Current national evidence starts a conventional installation around $3,000–$8,000. A full conventional replacement is much wider at $4,500–$20,000, while a diagnosed repair commonly falls around $627–$3,040. The calculator keeps those jobs separate before adjusting supported scenarios for capacity, soil and access.

What the estimate does—and does not—calculate
The model starts with separately sourced 2026 bands for installation, diagnosed repair, tank-only, drain-field, full-system, pumping, tank locating and perc-test or soil-evaluation work. System type is built into the applicable project band; smaller visible adjustments then show how capacity, soil and access can move a project. It rounds the output to planning figures and never diagnoses a fault or selects a legally suitable system.
